The Lizard Hungers

Poor Curt. All he wanted was his arm back. Now he’s got all sorts of trouble.

Work in Progress: The Lizard Hungers

October 16th, 2009 Posted in Artwork | 2 Comments »

Earlier this week I penciled a whole bunch of things, the first of which I’ll be coloring and typesetting this weekend. Here’s the work in progress – the raw sumi ink, sans digital coloring. Enjoy!

The Scorpion Stalks

October 8th, 2009 Posted in Artwork | 2 Comments »

Beware the Scorpion, one of Spidey’s truly lame opponents. It’s sad, too. I mean, he’s a genetically enhanced super-criminal with an acid spitting bionic tail. Come on Scorpion, you sound so cool! Too bad you never deliver the goods.

Oh well, more ink your viewing pleasure, dear readers:

Kraven the Hunter Beckons

September 29th, 2009 Posted in Artwork | 5 Comments »

Kraven the Hunter is one of the few primary Spider-Man villains who isn’t based on some sort of creature (Dr. Octopus, The Scorpion, The Vulture, The Rhino, I could go on), and yet he’s all about creatures. I always had a tough time taking him seriously, perhaps because he looked like a circus strongman in the 1990’s Spider-Man series. Still, this was really fun to do, and the piece has earned a place in my Characters section. Nice to take a piece from sketch to final once again, it’s been a while. Enjoy!

Cap’ Victorious

September 26th, 2009 Posted in sketchbook | Add a Comment »

I felt a bit guilty about my last post. I like Captain America well enough, I don’t wish him dead. Seemed rather extreme, so I thought I’d give him the edge in this one:

Red Skull Victorious

September 24th, 2009 Posted in sketchbook | Add a Comment »

Hey all! Just a quick post to prove I’m still alive and kicking. While my 9-5 has been incredibly busy as of late, I’ve been doing what I can to keep sketching and producing at night.

As I’ve never a big Captain America fanatic, I don’t quite know why he and Red Skull keep battling in my mind. Still, had to do something about it. Sorry, Cap – Red Skull won this time. Apologies for the violence of this one, it’s not my usual! I really wanted to break out my red ink, and well, look what happened…

Parker and Fries, that is. Here are a couple sketches from the last little while. First up is Mr. Freeze, followed by your friendly, neighborhood Spider-Man. Enjoy!

Covered!

May 20th, 2009 Posted in Artwork, News | 2 Comments »

So as of about 7 minutes ago (no, I didn’t sit refreshing my browser over and over…who does that?), I have another piece featured on Robert Goodin’s Covered. This time around it’s a Justice League of America cover from 1966 featuring the Shaggy Man. I had a lot of fun putting this together, and I’m feeling good about the direction of this style. Here’s the piece, though I recommend you head over to Covered to see it larger, as well as to see all the other fantastic submissions.

Now that I’m in the unpacking stage of my move to Boston, you can expect some more work up here soon, at least sketchbook pages.
