Get Dropbox!

September 18th, 2009 Posted in Fun, Technology | Add a Comment »

We interrupt your irregularly scheduled blogging to bring you this message from our sponsor:

Okay, in reality, I’m not being sponsored by anyone, but I did want to share an indispensable tool I’ve been using with you all. It’s called Dropbox, and it’s pretty darn cool. In short, it makes your files accessible from wherever you go. I’ve been using it to keep files synchronized between my iMac and my MacBook, and I don’t think I could do without it anymore. I could go on and on about it, but that’s no good for a blog post on my homepage, so I made a dedicated page for it. Who knows, maybe this will be the first in a series of technology recommendations, and that page on the left will become a repository for useful, fun software and services. We’ll see.

Anyway, if you want to give it a shot, I ask that you read my Recommendations page first. If you sign up using the information on that page, we can both benefit and get some extra storage out of it!

Batmobile iPhone Dock? YES PLEASE!

August 18th, 2009 Posted in Artwork, Fun, Technology | Add a Comment »

So I recently upgraded from my original, first generation iPhone to a shnazzy new iPhone 3G S, and that meant that my old dock would no longer fit my phone. When contemplating the cost of a new dock, Mel and I realized it would be cheaper and a heck of a lot cooler to build a dock of our own! That’s where this sweet diecast 1966 Adam West style Batmobile came in (I assure you, I paid super-cheap TJ Maxx price!). Combine that with a dock adapter, an iPhone cable, and a few hours of ingenuity, whaddya get? A Mel Chao/Mark Grambau original BATMODOCK!  Begin geeky adoration…NOW!

Fun with Illustrator

February 12th, 2009 Posted in Artwork, Fun | Add a Comment »

When I first set up this site a few months back, I had intended to have an illustrated self portrait on my “About / Contact” page, but simply didn’t have the time. Well, seeing that my recent penguin and Wall*E work has seemingly reignited my love for illustrator, I thought it was high time to get that self portrait out the door. Here I am, world!

Caution: Rogue robots!

February 11th, 2009 Posted in Artwork, Fun, sketchbook | Add a Comment »

You know how sometimes you get song lyrics, or a word or phrase completely stuck in your head? I’m pretty bad with this. Once a sound byte checks in, it doesn’t check out. I have recently decided that the best way to get these things out is to do something with them. For example, when I had the theme to Speed Racer stuck in my head for a month or so, I arranged it and sang it in 4+ part harmony. This time, I just sketched up my demon. Enjoy some Wall*E goodness!

Spidey sure looks sharp in that red and blue suit!

OH DEAR GOD, HE’S BEEN DECAPITATED

Oh don’t worry, it’s for a good cause.

A work in progress. I’ll post the finished product in a couple of days. I wonder what it will be?

Darkseid, part 3

October 31st, 2008 Posted in Fun | Add a Comment »

The last few steps were to project the image onto the pumpkin, trace it, and carve! We’re pretty proud of the result.
